Late post BUT better than never! Back in January I Late post BUT better than never! Back in January I turned 37. My husband asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday and, as you can see, I just wanted to BAKE! I had no inspo for this cake, I just started going and decorating until I eventually ended up with this cutie baby ๐Ÿ˜ Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter โœŒ๏ธ

When one of our friends said they were getting eloped with their fiance (who just moved to Texas and knew no one) I couldn't bear the thought of them not having a beautiful cake to share. The only thing I knew about the bride to be was that she is British, loves rosรฉ, and sunflowers were her all time favorite flower. I created this cake with all of those elements in mind! . . . This lovely little beauty consists of moist pink champagne cake layers brushed with a rosรฉ simple, strawberry rosรฉ mousse, fresh macerated strawberries, and covered in vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream. Y'all, if you haven't been to @_fairlane_cc you ar Y'all, if you haven't been to @_fairlane_cc you are MISSING OUT! This brand new coffee and cocktail shop is in the heart of dripping springs and is oh so good. With their delish coffees, carefully crafted cocktails, and amazing food trucks, this place is hitting on all levels. They are also kid friendly with a huge playscape! We tried the @a.t.eatzburgerjoint peach habanero wings and they were incredible. They also offer MASSIVE burgers, fries, onion rings, and fried pickles. We also tried the quesabirria tacos from @mrchingontaqueria and I was blown away. They were so fresh and rich, almost forgot to take a picture! Haha. They have a large selection of beef, pork, chicken, and specialty meats like lamb and veal. What caught my eye though, was this MASSIVE 3.5 pound tomahawk ribeye ๐Ÿ˜ Nothing is better than drinking an ice cold @cruxfermentationproject IPA and grilling up some BEEF! Cooked this bad boy to the most perfect medium rare and it was so delicious. The puppies even got a special treat which they greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿพ To all my PNW followers, if you live in the Seattle/Tacoma area I HIGHLY recommend @owensmeats if you are looking for excellent quality meat and an unforgettable dinner!

Posts are pics of the street eats I had while there. @picarones_elvirita was by far my favorite, they were delicious and the owner was so sweet. She has been making them for over 40 years! I had these babies custom cut for me so they were extra thick and delicious. I brined these beauties in an apple cider brown sugar brine for 24 hours and rubbed them down with my brown sugar rub featuring @behrnespeppersalts smoked chipotle salt, paprika, pepper, and other secret ingredients ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then, I smoked them on my @kamadojoe Big Joe smoker and finished them off with a flaming sear on my grill. They got topped with my homemade apple onion sauce and served on a big fluffy pile of my chipotle buttered whipped sweet potatoes. These turned out way better than I imagined they would! They are filled with a salted caramel spiked with their oak aged Texas Sotol, caramel buttercream, and finished off with hand painted Sotol plants. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Oak aged sotol tastes very much like bourbon, so this is my play on bourbon salted caramel. Guys, it's beyond delicious, even better than bourbon caramel! A fun fact about @desertdoor is that they are the ONLY Sotol in the US and also employs the most amazing people on this planet. Have you ever made sushi at home? I'm here to tell Have you ever made sushi at home? I'm here to tell ya, it's a whole lot of fun AND, you get more bang for your buck! I made several fresh rolls using yellowtail and salmon supplied by @asahiimports. If your looking to create some sushi magic at your home too, I recommend checking them out. They have everything you need to create beautiful and delicious rolls, nagiri, and sashimi! The trick to getting super clean cuts on your rolls and fish is using a SUPER sharp knife and wetting it slightly.
